Face painting is a regular booking for school carnivals, fun fairs, Children's Day events and community centre days in Singapore. The thing to plan is the queue: hundreds of children may pass the station in a few hours, so book enough painters and keep the design menu short and quick.
Price: face painting in Singapore usually costs SGD 250 to 450 for a 2 hour session with one painter, and SGD 600 to 850 for a double painter setup over 2 to 3 hours for 50 or more children. See how much face painting costs in Singapore.
Plan by the queue, not the event
Count the children who will be at the event during the busy hours, not the total for the whole day. One painter does about 20 to 25 simple designs an hour, or 12 to 15 detailed ones. Then:
- Up to 40 children an hour: two painters with a short menu of quick designs.
- 40 to 80 children: two or three painters for the busiest 2 to 3 hours.
- More than 80 children: three or more painters, or a rotation with another station so no single queue backs up.
If the queue will be longer than the painters can handle, a glitter tattoo station or a balloon artist gives children a second line to join.
A short menu of quick designs
A long queue moves faster with a design board of small pictures: a cheek star, a heart, a butterfly, a small tiger, a football or a flag. Full face designs take several times longer, so keep them for a quieter hour. Children choose by pointing at the board, which helps the youngest ones and saves time.
Where the station goes
In a school hall, a covered court or a community centre, the painters need a table each, two chairs per painter and good light. A covered spot matters: direct sun makes paint dry patchy and rain stops the station. Keep the queue away from the doors and the stage, with a clear end of the line that a teacher or volunteer can watch.
Safety and consent
Face paint for children should be cosmetic grade and made for skin. Ask the school or organiser to flag known allergies, and let parents or teachers know that any child can choose a design on the hand or arm instead of the face. The painter can skip an area on request.
Arrival and timings
Painters arrive 15 to 20 minutes before the start to set up, bring their own paints, brushes and wipes, and leave the area clean. If the event runs a full day, plan short breaks for each painter, or book extra hours. Extra hours are charged per painter.
Book early for school dates
Painters get booked out weeks ahead in the school holidays. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead for the June, November and December holiday periods and around Chinese New Year, and 2 to 4 weeks ahead otherwise. Send the date, the venue, the hours and the expected number of children on WhatsApp or through the quote form. For company events, see face painting for family days and carnivals.
